3 Favorite Greenlip Mussels Recipes

Greenlip mussels are one of the most highly prized varieties of the seafood, for their spectacular flavor and freshness. They come from some of the world's coldest and freshest waters, being endemic to New Zealand. Greenlip mussels contain five different kinds of omega-3 fatty acids, which mean that you can eat something delicious that is also extremely healthy by popping them on top of your next seafood delivery order! They usually come smoked from your online fresh fish store, so are incredibly quick and easy to prepare. Today we’re looking at some of our favorite ways to incorporate them in recipes.
This recipe calls for around 50 greenlip mussels -- but you can easily calculate different quantity proportions of the other ingredients to match the number of greenlip mussels in your seafood delivery. The greenlip mussels are simply baked, and have a sauce of shallots, anchovies, diced/blanched tomatoes, garlic, chilli and lemon zest topping them. They are baked with a gorgeous herb crust, utilizing fresh herbs and fresh breadcrumbs. The recipe is divine … a credit to good seafood!
A simple and sweet recipe with a touch of exoticism. In many cases, the Greenlip mussels seafood delivery is not the most expensive part of the dish -- getting genuine saffron threads is! The whipping cream, white wine, and leeks all dance their flavors around the beautiful greenlip mussels. None of the mussel juices that are extracted during cooking are wasted, they go right back into the dish for added flavor. You'll need a Dutch oven.
This recipe is much simpler than it tastes -- it's actually very easy to prepare. Everyone loves mussels (indeed, anything from your freshseafood delivery!) with garlic, and there is plenty in this recipe. Chilis, another popular accompaniment, are included, but it is the lemongrass, coconut milk and coriander which give this dish its unique Asian flavor. You can add a splash of bourbon if desired also!

Matching a Wine with Your Seafood Delivery

Fish and wine are two of the finer things in life … but matching the wrong wine with your fish can spoil the taste of both! If you have an enormous, mouth-watering seafood delivery just waiting to be seared, spiced and served, we have the perfect accompaniment for your perfect meal.
1. Champagne and Sparklers
Anything light and with a little bit of fizz will cut well through the oiliness of deep fried fish. Beer might not work well with tempura or beer-battered seafood deliveries, but champagne, prosecco and cava certainly does. They are also a delight with caviar.
2. Chardonnay and Viognier -- Fuller Whites
Oaky chardonnay actually works quite well with fish meats like crab and raw oysters as well as lobster. A full-bodied wine should be paired up with a full-bodied dish -- plenty of cream and spices as well as a strongly flavored fish from your seafood delivery
3. Verdelho
Shellfish, clams, mussels and scallops are all beautiful when eaten alongside a Verdelho or albarino.
4. Sherry
Dry fino sherry is lovely with shrimp. The sherry is enormously dry and a little salty, and is a perfect match for the equally salty shrimp. It doesn’t really matter whether the shrimp seafood delivery has been sautéed, grilled stir-fried or steamed -- it is the flavour of the meat itself that pairs well with the sherry.
5. Pinot Noir and Grenache
Light red wines like Pinot Noir, sangiovese and Grenache (as well as chianti, the daughter of sangiovese), go well with fish that has a bit of color. Salmon, tuna, mackerel and swordfish are great with light reds (and you get a double antioxidant hit with the meal!).
6. Pinot Grigio, Sav Blanc and Chenin Blanc
These wines are simple, dry, crisp and not too overbearing, and so go well with plain grilled or seared lean white fish. Seafood deliveries of halibut, flounder, snapper and even oysters and raw clams are beautiful with the crisp whites. You can also use them as a contrast, not a complement, to striped bass, lobster or mussels which are oilier.

Why You Should Insist on King Salmon

Unless you're a seafood chef, or have worked for a seafood vendor, buying the best salmon for your table can be confusing. Because so many of you now buy seafood online, we wanted to let you know why you should insist on King Salmon every time you order.

We've noticed that some online
seafood delivery services confuse their customers by pretending there's no difference between lesser species and the royalty of all salmon, the King. That's too bad, because until you've tasted the difference buying King Salmon makes, you're missing a stellar seafood experience.

Here are some facts about how types of salmon differ:

* King Salmon is the largest of all salmon species, with wild caught fish commonly weighing up to 45 pounds.

* Although they're all sold as "salmon," there are actually five different species of this fish sold in the U.S. They are: King Salmon (also called Chinook), Chum, Pink Salmon, Coho and Sockeye.

* King Salmon has the highest concentration of Omega 3 fatty acids, known to be important to heart health.

* You'll find other species of salmon are missing the rich, distinctive flavor that comes with King Salmon.

* No other type of salmon naturally offers the beautiful, deep red flesh that makes your seafood dishes so appetizing.

Now that we've settled the argument that King Salmon is superior, let's talk about why you should also insist on "wild caught" rather than "farm raised" King Salmon.

When you hear the words "farm raised," it may bring to mind a lovely, rural setting, but when you're talking about raising fish, it means crowded pens containing fish on a feeding program intended to quickly fatten them before they're sold.

Those feeding practices may include chemicals you wouldn't normally put into your body. Does that sound like the fish you want to see in your next
seafood delivery? Of course not!

Smart seafood lovers look for the freshest, most natural fish possible. Whether you buy direct from your local seafood shop or, like many today, buy seafood online, wild caught King Salmon means you're serving fish that's the best for you.

So, let's review. What's the very best species of salmon to order from your online seafood delivery service? That's correct: you can't go wrong with wild caught King Salmon.

Once you've tasted this regal fish in fillets, steaks or patties, you'll wonder why you ever thought other kinds of salmon were acceptable. Get your recipes ready, and order the king of salmon the next time you start craving fish. It's absolutely a seafood delight fit for royalty.

But finding a seafood vendor that carries your favoritelobster, ahi or King Crab is only part of the story. There are unique joys in store once you find a full-service online seafood shop.

A full-service fish market is one that considers how the customer will use the seafood once it reaches her home. Does she know how to prepare it? Does she have recipes for fish, or will that succulent halibut wind up tough and overcooked? A great online seafood shop takes steps to offer the products, services and information the seafood lover needs to have a great culinary experience, every time. They'll feature recipes for everything from Dungeness Crab Bisque to Salmon with Strawberry Salsa.

And they understand that not every local store stocks the ingredients to make your salmon sing! That's why they offer a full line of sauces and spices to compliment your fish. The truly great full-service online seafood shops even make their own delicacies to delight their customers. Specialties like homemade tartar sauce and lobster ravioli line their online shelves.

To ensure your seafood experience is superior, they'll suggest utensils such as cedar grilling planks for preparing the perfect salmon. Whether razor-sharp oyster knives or lobster crackers, they know what it takes to prepare and eat seafood easily.

Here's one more way the best of full-service seafood shops cater to their customers: they feature the perfect wines to compliment the succulent seafood they provide. Local wines from your online fish market's region make a wonderful addition to your table.

Now doesn't that sound like a fabulous way to buy seafood? Why settle for frozen planks of fish bought from a sterile supermarket setting, when you can form a life-long relationship with a top-of-the-line full-service online seafood vendor? Look for a seafood market that supplies more than a selection of sushi grade tuna. Insist on the best and you'll soon be savoring the seafood experience.

Top Five Picks for Fresh Fish Lovers

Do you love fresh fish? Are you ready to branch out to new varieties? Maybe you've savored salmon for years, but have never tried halibut or ahi. Here's a guide to five of the top fish chosen by people who visit our online seafood shop. Browse our list and then start planning to add new fish to your menu this week.

Salmon: If you've never tasted King Salmon from British Columbia, prepare to have your taste buds overwhelmed! Many salmon lovers don't realize that the farmed Atlantic Salmon they can buy inexpensively pales by comparison to the King. This Omega-3 rich variety can be prepared so many different ways that you'll be serving salmon often!

Halibut: This fish hails from northern waters, and it's become extremely popular in homes and restaurants around the globe. The firm texture makes it easy to adapt to a wide variety of recipes. Because of its mild taste, halibut is a great pick for diners introducing fish into their diets.

Tuna Varieties: Ahi (yellowfin) and Albacore Tuna are favorite choices among those who've learned tuna doesn't always come in a can! Ahi, a sushi grade tuna, is most often used for sashimi, but it also makes a great grilling fish. Albacore Tuna is premium grade "white meat" tuna and can be used for grilling, baking or in sushi.

Pacific Red Snapper: This warm-water fish is well-known on restaurant menus, especially along the Gulf Coast. Cajun recipes often call for snapper, and you can also braise it, fry it or stuff it with shrimp before baking it. No matter which way you prepare snapper, you're going to love its distinctive flavor.

Sole: This scrumptious, flaky fish has been popular among U.S. diners for decades. There are several varieties of sole being sold, two of the most-loved being Petrale and Sand Dabs. You can easily find Chinese, Italian, Vietnamese or French recipes featuring sole. No matter which cuisine you prefer, discovering the subtle flavor of sole will make you a fish lover for life!

Today's online seafood shops and speedy shipping make discovering new fish varieties a snap. Start a whole new trend in healthy, flavorful eating for the people you love. Introduce your friends and family to a different type of fish each week. You can even exchange favorite fish recipes to keep the flavor trend rolling. Once you do, you're going to find there's a world of delicious dining experiences waiting.

Fabulous Fish Recipes

I said before that you should be eating fresh fish at least once a week. The problem is, many people don't know how to prepare fish to make it both appealing and appetizing. After all, just because something is healthy doesn't mean it's going to be eaten. In fact, unless something tastes good, most of us won't give it a second bite. So today, we've decided to pass along one of our favorite fish recipes. And it's probably pertinent to mention that as the weeks pass, we will be bringing to you a series of our favorite fish recipes.

First of all, start with four or five fresh fish fillets of your choosing. As always, it's a good idea to order your fresh fish from an online fish market. For this recipe, it won't really matter what type of fish you purchase, this recipe is complementary to all fish.

After you have collected your 4 or 5 fish fillets, you should begin gathering your other materials. You will need 1 cup of white wine, two tablespoons fresh lemon juice, two diced tomatoes, one diced onion, half a cup of fresh cilantro, two large cloves of garlic, (garlic should be pressed), four tablespoon olive oil, two tablespoons of wine or rice vinegar, and one tablespoon of ground cumin.

Place your fish fillets in a 9 x 13 glass pan. A glass casserole dish will work just as well. Combine the aforementioned ingredients and pour them over your fish. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 475°. Once the oven is preceded to the proper temperature, place your concoction into the oven and bake at 475° for eight to 10 minutes. Fish is done when it flakes easily.

Once you've removed your fish from the oven, you may top it with grated Monterey Jack cheese and bake again at 500° Fahrenheit until the cheese browns. Remember though, the cheese should not burn; it should lightly browned. If you don't like Monterey Jack, you can use a variety of other cheeses. However, American cheese does not work particularly well for this recipe.

You can rest assured that this special fish recipe will have your family not only licking their lips but licking their plate. Once again, be sure and order your fish from an online reputable fish market. To ensure the utmost quality and the best selection of fish available

Fresh Fish All Day Every Day

You have probably already heard about the many health benefits available through eating fresh fish. Unfortunately, far too many people have no idea where to buy fresh fish. If you live in a landlocked state, you probably have to purchase fish that has been on ice for months. The good news is, you don't have to live without simply because you live within.

The consumption of fresh fish will infuse the body with omega-3 fatty acids, which have been proven both heart healthy and brain healthy. Properly prepared fish is the best source of omega-3 fatty acids, but that's not the only vitamin and nutrient available through the consumption of fresh fish. As such, it's important that you eat at least one serving of fish each week.
If you're concerned about purchasing fresh fish, you should consider ordering your fish from an online retailer. High-quality online fish markets can offer next-day delivery on fresh fish. This means no freezer burn, no worry about parasites, and no concern about eating processed fish that has little or no nutritional value.

Some of the higher quality online fish markets also offer shellfish, scallops, shrimp, as well as the sauces and spices to complement the food. And, if you're really looking for a special dish, you may also order wine to accompany your meal!
Believe it or not, ordering your fish from an online retailer and having it delivered fresh directly to your door will save you time and money. Here, you ordering fish from an online retailer means no storefront marketing price increases and not using your own gasoline to travel. Ordering from an online fish market is also an excellent way to ensure that you get high quality fillets even if you live smack-dab in the middle of the U.S.

We can guarantee that you will be utterly shocked at the selection and quality of fish available through an online fish market, but you don't have to take our word for it. Consider looking into available fish markets and spending some time reading customer testimonials and reviews about the products and services they've received. Ordering fish from an online resource is an excellent way to ensure that you receive the healthy benefits from the consumption of fish as well as the convenience of shopping online.
